National Curriculum

The Centre offers exciting facilities and instructional support for the Outdoor & Adventurous Activities module in Physical Education. 5/6-session modules are available for students to follow targeted areas of study, and in some cases these can be related to RYA certification. The link between exam boards and the RYA syllabus is very strong and this can allow students to follow the RYA scheme to comply with exam board requirements. The CSCWI can design session plans to meet individual requirements. Please contact us for further information.

Modules are available for all key stages, and can be extended to offer a greater breadth of experience according to the needs of the individual group. This structure enables the pupils to experience a range of activities, and serves to lay a stimulating foundation for those who may wish to pursue some of the activities further.

Many pupils choose to pursue sailing activities as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and training is available for this at all levels.

RYA qualified instructors are available to schools, and group leaders should make individual arrangements with the Principal according to their requirements. It should be noted, however, that Centre staff are offered only in an instructional capacity, and responsibility for the conduct and supervision of the group remains with the group leader.

The CSCWI is always pleased to meet with Head Teachers or group leaders of prospective member groups, either at educational establishments or here at the centre, to discuss the activities on offer. If you wish to discuss options for your school or group, either email, call, arrange for the CSCWI to visit your establishment or just pop in for a coffee and a chat. You'll find the details on how to get in touch on the "Contacts" page. We look forward to seeing you soon.
